Plan your visit to Real Club Valderrama
A landmark in European golf, Valderrama combines an exacting championship course with the history of the 1997 Ryder Cup. This is a private members’ club with limited visitor tee times, so a round starts with advance planning.

Why Valderrama matters
Originally designed in 1974 and known as Las Aves, the course entered a new chapter after Jaime Ortiz-Patiño acquired it in 1984. He worked with Robert Trent Jones Sr. to refine the layout that became Valderrama.
In 1997 it hosted the Ryder Cup, with Seve Ballesteros captaining the victorious European team. The club also hosted the World Golf Championships in 1999 and 2000, won by Tiger Woods and Mike Weir respectively.
A course that rewards precision
Valderrama’s challenge is about placement and thoughtful shot selection. Plan your round around the tees appropriate to your game, and leave time for preparation rather than arriving just before your start. The club’s published facilities include a driving range, chipping area and putting green.
Booking a visitor round
Ask the club for available dates before committing to travel. Visitor access is limited and a golf enquiry is not a confirmed tee time. Obtain the total price, payment terms and cancellation conditions directly from the club.
- Give your preferred dates, number of golfers and handicaps.
- Confirm the current handicap requirements and proof you need to bring.
- Ask about caddie arrangements, equipment hire and any buggy restrictions.
- Check arrival time, dress code, footwear and guest access.
- Request written confirmation of the booking and everything included.
