PLAN FOR THE CONDITIONS
Sotogrande weather: check the latest forecast, understand the wind and make a better plan for the coast.
Use the official forecast for the days you need, then look at wind, rain and sea conditions as well as temperature. This page provides forecast links and planning advice; it does not display a live weather reading.

San Roque: seven-day outlook
AEMET’s municipal forecast is a useful starting point for planning around Sotogrande. It represents San Roque municipality’s capital, so conditions at the beach or in elevated neighbourhoods can differ.
Plan a particular hour
For a round of golf, a class or an outdoor meal, look at the hourly view closer to departure. Check the time period attached to rainfall and wind information.
Weather warnings
Check AEMET warnings separately from the everyday forecast. San Roque’s municipal page identifies its warning zone as Estrecho. Read the affected area, phenomenon and validity period.
Sea and coastal conditions
A sunny icon does not describe the sea state. For sailing or watersports, use the marine forecast and follow the operator’s decision and local beach instructions.
What matters for your plans
Beach days
Look at wind, cloud, UV and the local beach flags, not just the maximum temperature. Have an alternative plan if the beach is uncomfortable or swimming is restricted.
Golf and racket sports
Check gusts and rainfall during your booked hours. Ask the club about its own course or court status and cancellation policy; the general forecast cannot confirm whether a particular facility is playable.
Outdoor dining
For an evening table, ask about shelter from the wind and an indoor alternative. A warm afternoon does not tell you how an exposed terrace will feel after sunset.
A flexible family day
Keep an indoor option in mind, especially when booking ahead. Check opening and booking arrangements before changing your plans.
Packing for Sotogrande
Use your travel dates and planned activities to decide what to bring. Light layers, comfortable footwear and a wind-resistant outer layer are more versatile than packing for a single temperature. For an exposed boat trip, ask the operator about recommended clothing.
For a longer stay, check indoor comfort as well as outdoor conditions. Ask your accommodation about heating or cooling, shade and laundry facilities. The weather at midday is only part of the experience.
Read the forecast with the right expectations
A forecast is an estimate, not a guarantee. Use the week ahead to compare possible days, then check again nearer the activity. A local cancellation, closed trail or red beach flag takes precedence over a general description of pleasant weather.
Look for the place, publication time and forecast period. A social-media screenshot without a visible date is not a reliable forecast for your visit.
Vos questions répondues
Does this page show today’s temperature?
No. The buttons open AEMET’s own forecast pages so you can check their latest available issue. We do not label a stored temperature as live.
Why does the forecast say San Roque?
Sotogrande is within San Roque municipality. AEMET explains that municipal forecasts refer to the capital of the municipality; local elevation and coastal exposure can produce differences.
Is Sotogrande weather identical to Marbella?
Do not assume so. Use a forecast close to your destination, particularly when wind or rain will affect the activity.
What do Levante and Poniente mean?
They are commonly used local names for easterly and westerly winds respectively. For your plans, the actual speed, gusts and sea conditions matter more than the name.
Can it feel windy when the forecast looks sunny?
Yes. Cloud cover and wind are different parts of the forecast. Check the wind and gust information before planning an exposed terrace, beach or boat trip.
What is the best time of year to visit?
Choose around your priorities: beach facilities, sports, quieter surroundings or specific events. Check seasonal opening and your travel-date forecast rather than relying on a single claim that one month suits everyone.
Can we swim whenever it is sunny?
Sunshine does not establish safe swimming conditions. Observe beach flags, local instructions and sea conditions. Use our beach guide for planning, then assess conditions on arrival.
Does a rain percentage mean it rains all day?
Read the time interval and the forecast’s own explanation. A probability figure does not on its own describe the duration or intensity of rain at your particular location.
Is a hotel terrace sheltered from the wind?
Ask the hotel or restaurant about the actual terrace and an indoor alternative. Nearby venues can have very different exposure.
Can I book watersports weeks ahead?
You can ask about availability, but weather suitability is assessed much closer to the session. Check cancellation and rescheduling terms before paying.
Where do I check weather warnings?
Use the official AEMET warnings link above and confirm the area and validity dates. Follow any local authority instructions affecting your plans.
What if the forecast link fails?
Go to AEMET and search for San Roque, Cádiz. You can also use AEMET’s official app.
Where are emergency contacts?
See Informations utiles. For an immediate emergency in Spain, call 112.
